Are you ready to take diving to the next level? Hi-Tide Divers at Rimba Resort is proud to offer PADI Specialty Dive Courses designed to help you do just that. Each one of these Diving Courses will help hone your skills, as well as increase your knowledge, and comfortability in the water. Expect to gain a deeper understanding of the underwater world, its flora and fauna and how it all works together with your Underwater Naturalist Course. Discover all sorts of new and different aquatic life with Deep Diver, and Night Diver Courses which open up whole new worlds to you. Underwater Navigator teaches compass skills, mapping, location pinpointing, and more. Peak Performance Buoyancy helps you master buoyancy once and for all, and is probably the most of quintessential of all the speciality courses. Equipment Specialist allows you to develop a keen understanding of your equipment, how it functions, how to repair it if it breaks. These courses are great for anyone looking to have fun, but also develop their skills and knowledge further. Additionally, Specialty Courses are excellent for those working towards or looking to improve their Dive Master Certification.

OUR COURSES

Deep Diver

2 consecutive days

This speciality course features four Open Water Boat Dives and instruction from a Certified PADI Dive Instructor, wherein you will develop a “deep” understanding of: decompression theory, dive planning procedures for diving below 18meters, thorough buoyancy practice, and feeling and dealing with nitrogen narcosis. You will achieve the maximum depth allowed for recreational divers (40meters). Learning these skills is vital to deep diving, and will allow you to explore more dive sites such as wrecks or caves as well as an entire new world of creatures and plant life, which you can only be found at these deeper depths.

Includes: Deep Diver Manual, Deep Diver Certificate, PADI certification card, and Full equipment rental

Night Diver

3 nights (must be completed within two weeks)

Our Night Diver course is an adventure into the rarely seen world of Rimba Resort’s House Reef at night. Over the course of three nights and Three Open Water Dives you will see the reef come alive with creatures not often seen during the day. You will be equipped with a special underwater torch, and a Certified PADI instructor both of which will help you spot creatures like the elusive octopus, or the three-hearted squid! Be sure to turn off your special underwater torch to reveal the real secrets of the night, when suddenly glowing and sparkling phosphorescent plankton surrounds you. Watch them swirl and dance as you swim past, in a truly amazing show of light and the natural world. Your Instructor will teach you about the safety procedures needed for diving at night, and how to navigate, and identify nocturnal creatures and their habits.

Underwater Navigator

2 consecutive days

In our Underwater Navigator Specialty Course we focus heavily on compass work, location pinpointing, and mapping. This course is all about knowing where you are in the water. You will learn how to map a dive site, including navigating squares and triangles, all with and without a compass. Additionally you will learn how to estimate distance using only kicks, and time navigation. Along with your Certified PADI Dive Instructor you will complete Three Open Water Dives, which allow you the opportunity to practice your newly acquired skills and knowledge.

Underwater Naturalist

1 day

The Underwater Naturalist Course from Hi-Tide Divers gives in-depth awareness and understanding of the underwater environment for which you have already developed a passion. Your Certified PADI Instructor will give thorough in person instruction covering the provided course materials and theory. Next, you and your Instructor will explore Rimba Resort’s House Reef in a series of two dives. Learn about local flora & fauna, and how they work in harmony to create vibrant underwater worlds. You will learn about the key differences between “our” world and what lies below the surface of the water. You will learn how to interact with all aquatic life, so as not to harm yourself, or disrupt any of the delicate natural processes you will be observing.

Peak Performance Buoyancy

1 day

If there is one speciality course that literally every diver should do, this is that course. Peak Performance Buoyancy is a really fun course to take, and it improves your diving ability by leaps and bounds. Buoyancy can make or break a dive, and even those who have been diving for a long time can still struggle achieving perfect neutral buoyancy. If you want to develop a deeper understanding of how buoyancy works, and learn to master your buoyancy underwater quickly and easily every time so that it becomes second nature to you, then this is the course for you. Together with your Instructor you will learn how to use less air, and proper weighting to achieve perfect neutral buoyancy allowing you to glide effortlessly over any obstacle. You will discover how best to interact with the environment by hovering with ease either upside down, or using just a fin pivot. Additionally this is a great skill to have as a role model or for those looking to achieve or add to their Dive Master Certification. With this course you can expect to master buoyancy and have a higher level of comfort while diving. It takes just 1 day and 2 dives to become the diver you have always wanted to be!

Equipment specialist

2 consecutive days

This course takes an in-depth look at your SCUBA equipment. Your Certified PADI Instructor will work with you for 2 full days to vastly increase your knowledge base and understanding. Through hands on workshops with your Instructor you will learn how to fully disassemble and reassemble all pieces of equipment used in diving. You will develop a keen understanding of the inner workings of a SCUBA First & Second Stage, as well as the many different types you may find in the diving world. Upon completion you will have gained the confidence not only to identify problems with your equipment, but you will also have the knowledge to fix those problems. Please note: Bring your land legs to this one. This course takes place on solid ground and does not include a diving portion.

Search and Recovery

2 consecutive days

The PADI Search and Recovery Diver Specialty Course gives you an entirely new set of skills for locating objects under the water, be it something large like boat engine or something small like engagement ring that a friend has lost. This specialty is extremely helpful for completing a Rescue Diver Course and your Dive Master Certification as well. You will learn multiple search patterns using a compass, reel or line fixed to two weights. This course includes Instructor led presentations and practical workshops, to prepare you for Four Open Water Dives where you will find randomly hidden objects of varying size. Did we mention that it’s a lot of fun!
